Current Playlist

Current listening:-

Symphony X ~ Paradise Lost
Symphony X ~ Twilight In Olympus
La Torre del' Alchemita ~ Neo
Carptree ~ Insekt
The Flower Kings ~ The Road Back Home

Really getting into Symphony X at the moment. I really love their heavy symphonic prog metal. The current album is more darker than previous efforts and the production is wonderful.

The Flower Kings compilation is one of the most thoughtful I have seen in a long time. Most of the tracks have been remixed with extra musical and vocal parts added. Roine Stolt's notes on each track are very insightful too.

Two posts in a day. That's great!

I was pleased to see The Flower Kings have done a compilation. I think that one trouble with The Flower Kings is that they're not very selective with their music and tend to push everything they do onto double CDs. I like the live album Live on Planet Earth.

I am currently looking out for that Classic Rock magazine prog special. It hasn't arrived in the magazine shops in Greece yet but hopefully it will come soon.

I agree about The Flower Kings. They do release everything. Sometimes that works sometimes it doesn't. But you have to admire their diversity.

Good luck on the Classic Rock prog special. Even though it was published over here I couldn't find a copy in the shops. Had to order it direct from the publishers! Maybe prog is still a dirty word!!

Today I found a review of the new Carptree album on DPRP:

I think that shops don't stock the Classic Rock special because of the high price - 8 pounds. I dread to think how much that will be in Greece. I guess 20 Euros but it'll be worth it.

I'm starting to listen to Carptree's Superhero album. The vocals sound just like Fish and the backing is very moody piano. Someone at ProgArchives said that this is the album Marillion would have made after Clutching at Straws if Fish had stayed and Steve Rothery had left.

I am just starting to listen to some of that Symphony X album. For symphonic metal, have you tried Nightwish?
